There are different variations in making the rasam powder. Each house has their own recipe. Mostly same ingredients with slight variations.
I am sharing the one which is being used by generations of my family.(my grand ma and my mom)
Homemade rasam powder is easy to prepare and very aromatic. We need to dry roast the ingredients and grind it to fine /coarse powder.
Ingredients
1 cup Red Chilli
3 cups Coriander Seeds
1 cup Toor Dal
1/4 cup Peppercorns
1/4 cup jeera
1 tbsp mustard
1/4 tsp Fenugreek
Few dry curry leaves
Method
Heat a pan and add each ingredient separately and dry roast them till they are roasted evenly and brown in colour .
Allow to cool completely and then grind it to a coarse powder or fine powder in a mixer.
Our fresh and aromatic
homemade Rasam Powder is now ready.
Store the rasam powder in an air-tight container.
Better to do in small batches to retain it's freshness.
Tip - You can increase or decrease Red chillies as per your taste.
If you are doing in small quantity you can fry them all together also.
